Neuropsychiatry and Functional Neurological Disorders
Concussion/Traumatic Brain Injury
Dr. Burke completed his neurology residency at the University of Toronto in Canada. He came to BIDMC in July 2017 to start the Sidney R. Baer, Jr. Foundational Fellowship in the Clinical Neurosciences. During this fellowship, he hopes to apply novel non-invasive brain stimulation and neuroimaging techniques to investigate complex disorders at the neurology/psychiatry interface. Concurrently, Dr. Burke sees patients in the Cognitive Neurology Unit at BIDMC and is also completing the Harvard Catalyst Clinical Translational Research Program.
Dr. Burke’s primary research interests focus on identifying common neural substrates for “functional” brain disorders that present to the neurologist. These disorders cover a wide spectrum and include chronic headache/pain, post-concussion syndrome and functional neurological disorders. In parallel, he hopes to develop new targeted treatment strategies for these challenging patients.
